Raymond Arthur “Ray” Shoemaker, age 72, of Magnolia, passed away, Monday, March 11, 2024, at T.J Samson Hospital in Glasgow.
He was born on March 30, 1951 in Louisville, Kentucky to the late William and Florence Shoemaker. Ray was a U.S. Army veteran and was stationed in Germany while he served, he retired from Ferrell Gas and was also employed at Akebono for several years after retirement. Ray accepted Christ into his heart and was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Magnolia, loved to fish, hunt and spend time with his family and friends. He also loved to watch his westerns, play poker, and drink Mtn. Dew.
Ray was preceded in death by his brother, Tommy Shoemaker; a sister Anita Gillespie, and his dogs Little Girl and Tiny.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Carolyn Shoemaker; a daughter, Michelle Shoemaker (Jason) Nolan; a son, Kevin (Emily) Shoemaker; grandchildren, Taylor (Sara) Nichols, Jayde (Robert) Rich-Godsey, Justin Shoemaker, Aubrey Nolan, Chad Nolan; great grandsons, Nyx Rich-Godsey and Aiden Snawder; siblings, Sheila Lambert, William Shoemaker Jr., Stuart Shoemaker, Earl Harper and Florence Casiembie; his dogs, Princess and Tito and many other family and friends.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 13, at Dixon-Rogers Funeral Home in Magnolia with Bro. Stewart Skaggs officiating. Cremation will follow.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and continues after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
