Mary Jonell Downs

Mary Jonell Hill Downs, age 68, of Elizabethtown, passed away, Friday, May 27, 2022, at Kensington Center in Elizabethtown.

She was a member of New Horizon Baptist Fellowship, a former employee of Crucible Magnetics, Hardin Memorial Hospital and her beloved Jerry’s Restaurant.

Jonell was preceded in death by her husband, LeRoy Downs; her parents, James Russell and Sally Cole Hill; five brothers, Franklin, James, Elmer, Sam and John Hill as well as two sisters, Irene Notaro and Betty Rock.

She is survived by a daughter, Chastity (Dante) Murry of Elizabethtown; two sons, Scott Hill of Elizabethtown and Jason Hill of Washington; two sisters, Roxie Grimes of Indianapolis and Pauline Campbell of Elizabethtown; a brother, Bro. Steve (Joan) Hill of Glendale; six grandchildren, Kaylea Despain, Kaleb Phapheelom, Logan Phapheelom, Aidan Puckett, Danesha Hill and Anthony Hill; four great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 31, at Dixon-Rogers Funeral Home in Magnolia with Bro. Steve Hill officiating. Burial will follow in Knoxes Creek Cemetery.

Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and after 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
