Essie Underwood McDowell

Essie Underwood McDowell, age 91, of Hodgenville, passed away, Sunday, May 29, 2022, at her residence.

She was a member and retired secretary of LaRue Baptist Church, a farmer’s wife and she loved shopping and fishing.

Essie was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby McDowell; her parents, Elmer Wesley and Nancy Stillwell Underwood; three sisters, Dorothy Underwood, Cora Curry and Marie Underwood; four brothers, Rev. Edgar, Herman, Stanley and Henry Underwood.

She is survived by a son, Gary (Regina) McDowell, three grandchildren, Chasidy, Cody and Brady McDowell; a sister, Virgie Thompson of Hodgenville and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 11a.m. Tuesday, May 31, at LaRue Baptist Church, Bro. Donald Kennedy and Bro. Nathan Housley officiating. Burial will follow on the McDowell Family Farm.

Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home and after 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the her church.
