Dennis Clayton Farmer Sr., age 85, of Elizabethtown, passed away, Saturday, July 10, 2021, at his sons’ residence with his family by his side.
Born in Greensburg, on July 30, 1935, he was owner and operator of their family business, Farmers Garage in Hodgenville for many years.
Dennis loved the Lord with all his heart and soul and was a devoted Christian his entire life. He enjoyed motorcycling, music, watching Sunday Nascar races and raising a garden.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Lena Skaggs Farmer and a brother John Daniel Farmer.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Sue Farmer of Hodgenville; three daughters, Theresa Ann Smallwood of Louisville, Donna Marie (fiancé Tim Gibson) Schroeder of Frankfort and Marilyn Sue (Greg) Cofer of Elizabethtown; a son, Dennis Clayton (Crystal) Farmer Jr. of Glendale; a sister Dixie Louise Pearman of Hodgenville; 10 grandchildren, Jill, Tiffany, Brian, Natalie, Nathan, Tara, Sean, Derek, Rebekah and Jasmin; a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am, Thursday, July 15, at Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville with Rev. Nathan Schroeder and Bro. Gary Pearman officiating. Burial will follow in the Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 pm, Wednesday and after 10 am on Thursday.
The family wants to thank his friend and physician Amanda Hendricks and also all the wonderful people at Tender Touch-Heart and Home memory care that made his last years with dementia so much richer and enjoyable. He loved you all.
