Barbara May Puckett, age 89, of Hodgenville, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 17, 2023, at Sunrise Manor in Hodgenville.
She said ninety was a good age to see God. Although she didn’t quite make her 90th birthday, she told us not to be sad, but to throw a party for her instead…with cake and ice cream.
A longtime resident of the Roanoke community in LaRue County, Barbara was an avid gardener, enjoyed her flowers and loved cats. In her early years she was involved with the local Homemaker’s Club. After the death of her husband in 1997, she was active in Share and Care and was a Hosparus Volunteer.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold Puckett; two brothers, Billy Thompson and Kenneth Thompson and a sister, Gail Thompson Maki.
She is survived by four children, Kathryn (Ron) Wilson, Judy Clan, Susan Kay and William (Debbie) Puckett; two grandchildren, Bryan (Bridgette) Wolford and Alexis (Scott) Puckett; a great-granddaughter, Katara Lucas; a great-great-grandson, Sawyer Emmi and a sister, Marjorie “Marnie” Jones.
Funeral services will be held at 12 noon Thursday, June 22, at Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home with Bro. Sid Lewis officiating. Burial will follow in Roanoke Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and after 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
