Shirley Ann (Nelson) Schmitz

Shirley Ann Schmitz, age 72 years, of Hodgenville, passed away, Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at her residence.

She was a retired manager at Denny’s Restaurant in Elizabethtown for several years.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Pauline Durall; seven brothers, Carl, Eddie, Robert, Paul, Kenny, Pete and Heaston Nelson and her parents, Clyde Alvin and Lydia Pearl Clark Nelson.

She is survived by her husband, of 52 years, Robert A. Schmitz; her daughter, Tammy DeYoung of Groveland, Florida; her son, Robert L. (Jeannie) Schmitz of Hodgenville; two sisters, Nellie Mae Mather and Lois Sparks both of Elizabethtown; a brother, Jessie (Brenda) Nelson of Elizabethtown; six grandchildren, Heather, Cory, Jessica, Lindsey, Ryan and Caitlin and two great-grandchildren, Haven and Landon.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, November 8, 2018 at Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville with Bro. Rodney Troutman officiating.  Burial will follow in the Round Top Cemetery in Elizabethtown.

Visitation will begin after 10 AM Thursday at the funeral home until time for services.
