Ronald Gene Baumgardner, age 78 years, of Hodgenville, passed away, Friday, August 31, 2018, at the Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown.
He was retired from Barker Chemical Plant in Dalton, Illinois after several years of service, former principal at LaRue Baptist School, an ordained minister and a member of First Baptist Church, Hodgenville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Octave Vandue and Rosetta Ford Baumgardner; two sisters, Edna Sopp and Velma Spanior; two brothers, James and William Baumgardner and a great-granddaughter, Alyssa Faith Barnett.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Wanda J. Perkins Baumgardner; three daughters, April Lee Baumgardner (Eddie) Bostic of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, Charity Ann Baumgardner (Barry) Buckles of Elizabethtown and Holly Mae Baumgardner (John) Kellicut of Harrodsburg; five sons, Ronald Craig (Sue) Baumgardner of Elkhart, Indiana, Nathan Neal Baumgardner and Benjamin Kyle Baumgardner both of Hodgenville, Clifford Todd (Teresa) Baumgardner of Mt. Sherman and Patrick Shea (Melissa) Baumgardner of Elizabethtown; a brother, Robert (Kathy) Baumgardner of Hodgenville; his father-in-law, Clifford Perkins of Hodgenville; 24 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Tuesday, September 4, 2018, at Mount Tabor Baptist Church in Buffalo with Rev. Bud Mauk officiating. Burial will follow in the Mount Tabor Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 PM, Monday and from 9 to 10:30AM, Tuesday at the Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville.
