Mary Rita Brey Gibson, age 89, passed away, Thursday, June 14, 2018.
She was the former Magnolia correspondent for the LaRue County Herald News; a member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church and a housewife.
Rita was preceded in death by her parents, John and Josephine Nalley Brey; three sisters, Doris Clan, Beulah Devers and Elizabeth Greenwell and two brothers, John E. and Lewis Brey.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Kenneth F. Gibson; three daughters, Eugenia (Billy Dale) Butler of Sonora, Venita (Bruce) Hawkins of Mt. Sherman and Viola (Walter) Hawkins of Summersville; three sons, Kenneth Ray (Shelia) Gibson, Joey (Karen) Gibson all of Campbellsville and Dorman (Debbie) Gibson of Tennessee; two sisters, Fredaline Clark of Bardstown and Nancy Devers of Howardstown; two brothers, Kenneth A. (Carol) Brey of Shepherdsville and Ramey (Jackie) Brey of Hodgenville; 13 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, June 16, 2018, at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, with Rev. Pablo Hernandez officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Tabor Church Cemetery near Buffalo.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 PM, Friday and after 8 AM, Saturday at Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville.
