Rev. Charles Russell Haxton, age 88, of Glendale, passed away, Saturday, December 1, 2018, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown.
He was an Air Force veteran during the Korean conflict, a retired minister, carpenter and a member of LaRue Baptist Church in Hodgenville.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Joe Clark and Irene Swartwood Haxton; three sisters, Ruth Cook, Jean Greene and Cora Watson; five brothers, Joe, Jerry, Walter, William and Victor Haxton; two sons-in-law, Brian Hanke and Richard Edblom and a great-great-grandson, Ryder Lee Tisdell.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Beverly McCracken Haxton; four daughters, Marianne (Rodney) Violette of Mississippi, Jo Edblom of Elizabethtown, Judy (Eddie) Mowrer of New Mexico and Rebecca (Fred) Johns of Colorado; three sons, Charles B. (Ida) Haxton of Minnesota, Stephen Haxton of Texas and James (Kim) Haxton of New York; one brother, John (Oleava) Haxton of New York; 21 grandchildren; 28 great- grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, December 6, 2018, at LaRue Baptist Church in Hodgenville with Pastor Donald Kennedy and Rev. Jim Rockensock officiating. Burial will follow in the Elizabethtown City Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4 to 8 PM Wednesday at Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville and after 12 PM Thursday at the church.
