Dorothy Middleton Kargle, age 98, of Bowling Green, formerly of Hodgenville, was born on April 12, 1919, in Hodgenville and passed away, Thursday, February 8, 2018, at Hospice of Southern Kentucky in Bowling Green.
Dorothy was one of the oldest members of First Baptist Church Hodgenville; she was also a former member of the Hodgenville Woman’s Club, Main Street Organization, various art groups and was very involved in the beginning of the Lincoln Museum.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Jack H. Kargle; a daughter Rebecca Kargle Duffer; her parents, William Henry “Bill” and Effie Wootton Middleton; three sisters, Virginia Middleton Marcum, Alma Middleton and Marjorie Middleton and a brother, Walter W. Middleton.
She is survived by a daughter, Karen Kargle Brooks Wells of Bowling Green; four grandchildren, Ellen Duffer and Sarah Duffer, both of Bowling Green, Benjamin Brooks, of Barnesville, OH and Michael Brooks of Lola; four great-grandchildren, Sydney Duffer, Cynthia Allen, Perry Hagene and Coy Brooks; a son-in-law, Thomas H. Duffer of Bowling Green and two nephews, John Morgan Marcum of Hodgenville and Steve Marcum of Houston Texas.
Graveside services will be held at 1 PM, Saturday, February 10, 2018, at Red Hill Cemetery in Hodgenville with Rev. Carlton Puryear officiating.
Visitation will be from 10 AM to 12:45 PM, Saturday at Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville.
